Scientists claim that the addition of iodine to salt is to blame for low sperm counts. Its also blamed for smaller testicles.
Tests found that rats that are starving of iodine led to increase of sperm production and largen testicles size.
Iodine is added to salt to aid brain development. James Crissman qouted that brain development is more important than sperm counts.
"I don't think the results in rats would reflect in humans. Animal models and human models are totally different." Said by Dr Gulam Bahadur, at University College London's medical school.
